Hungry members of the community could go to three distribution sites this Saturday, Aug. 31, when the CNMI Salvation Army goes full-blast with its mobile feeding program.<\/p>\n
The distribution points will be at the Kagman Community Center parking lot, Chalan Kanoa, and the Koblerville Youth Center parking lot.<\/p>\n
In response to demographic changes, the Salvation Army recently closed its fixed-site feeding program (soup kitchen) in Gualo Rai and, instead, expanded its mobile feeding program.<\/p>\n
\u201cDelivery sites have now been designated and an initial schedule put into place,\u201d said ministry leader pastor Annie Gillespie.<\/p>\n
The deliveries resume this Saturday, and will continue on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at the Kagman Community Center parking lot at 11am; in Chalan Kanoa (homeless feeding point-for homeless clients only) at 11:45am; and at the Koblerville Youth Center parking lot at 12:30pm. <\/p>\n
Clients can simply drive up or walk up and tell the Salvation Army how many people are in their family, then take their meals home to eat them. <\/p>\n
Ministry leader pastor Wayne Gillespie said the mobile feeding program will only be hosted at the delivery sites. That means food will only be distributed at the site. \u201cWe do not own or control them [the area] and eating on the sites is not permitted. Please also note that no litter will be tolerated,\u201d said Wayne Gillespie.<\/p>\n
The Salvation Army is looking at several ways to conduct a mobile feeding program and their goal is to adapt whichever model works best, and the sites and scheduled delivery times will likely be adjusted. <\/p>\n
\u201cBoth the sites and the scheduled delivery times will likely have to be adjusted as we gauge client response and several other factors. We are asking our clients to expect things to change as we fine-tune the program,\u201d said Wayne Gillespie.<\/p>\n
