McDonald\u2019s of Guam and Saipan continues its commitment to the training and development of its people. In August, Majellyn Calceta, the training coordinator for McDonald\u2019s of Guam & Saipan, and Mable Ayuyu Glenn, executive assistant to the president, were selected to attend a five-day course on \u201cFacilitating Exceptional Training\u201d at McDonald\u2019s Hamburger University in Chicago, Illinois. <\/p>\n

The class ran from Aug. 19 to 23 and included students from various parts of the world, including Canada, the Bahamas, and the United States. Calceta and Glenn were the only students that represented Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. The course included a combination of trainer discussions and activities focused on delivering effective training. <\/p>\n

McDonald\u2019s of Guam and Saipan owner\/operators Jose and Marcia Ayuyu were excited to have provided this opportunity and look forward to delivering a more effective training for their organization. The Ayuyus currently operate two McDonald\u2019s restaurants on Saipan and six McDonald\u2019s restaurants in Guam. <\/p>\n

In talking about her experience, Calceta said, \u201cI learned that effectively delivering the content to the audience (whether crew, crew trainers, and even top management) will help them achieve their goals in the restaurants and ultimately grow the business.\u201d <\/p>\n

She described the course as informative and meaningful. <\/p>\n

Calceta leads the training department and conducts training classes year-round for the Ayuyu organization.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on her experience at MHU, Glenn said, \u201cit was an amazing educational experience that takes a more interactive approach at learning. It was fun, challenging, and exciting all in one! It also made me look at training in a whole new light. I learned\u2026how to train more effectively and how to measure that success in training.\u201d <\/p>\n

Both Calceta and Glenn agree that they are walking away from the class with more knowledge to not only grow the business, but also to grow as an individual. They thanked Joe and Marcia Ayuyu for seeing and nurturing their leadership potentials and making MHU accessible to McDonald\u2019s Guam & Saipan.<\/p>\n

Hamburger University, established in 1961, is designed as a training facility used to provide classes in various aspects of restaurant management. The classes are available to restaurant managers, mid-managers, owner\/operators and franchisee office staff of McDonald\u2019s. More than 80,000 people have graduated from the university.<\/p>\n

To date, McDonald\u2019s of Guam and Saipan have sent six individuals from Guam and the Northern Marianas to attend courses at MHU in Chicago, including their son, Joe Ayuyu Jr.<\/p>\n

McDonald\u2019s of Guam & Saipan, owned and operated by franchisees Joe and Marcia Ayuyu, is the leading food service restaurant chain in the Marianas. First opened in 1993, the organization includes eight McDonald\u2019s restaurants (two on Saipan and six in Guam).
