(MAXINE RABAGO)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Jang Gun Restaurant literally means general in Korean and has been one of the top-ranked Korean restaurants on Saipan in the past 15 years.<\/p>\n<p>Last July, Jang Gun Restaurant relocated to a more prominent location along Coral Tree Avenue in front of Fiesta Resort &amp; Spa Saipan. <\/p>\n<p>To celebrate the move, the restaurant introduced a Korean lunch buffet. Aside from its famous home-made kimchi, Jang Gun Restaurant\u2019s smorgasbord includes more than four meat dishes like deji bulgogi, barbecue ribs, and pork curry and restaurant staples like fish roe, jajangmyeon, spicy squid, fried chicken, Korean pancakes, and kimchi fried rice.<\/p>\n<p>On occasion it also serves Korean versions of spaghetti, pancit (stir-fried noodles), and lumpia. The buffet also includes desserts\u2014 fruit salad and fresh fruits\u2014as well as miso and corn soup, and iced tea.<\/p>\n<p>Chief executive officer Chan Seck Hong said this is the first time Jang Gun Restaurant has offered a buffet lunch as the move to a bigger and more accessible location allowed them to finally introduce the eat-all-you-can option.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the old location we just didn\u2019t have space for a buffet. I\u2019m very happy that we can finally offer this at our new location here along Coral Tree Avenue,\u201d he said. The site is the old Sunshine Caf\u00e9 location.<\/p>\n<p>Hong assured that Jang Gun Restaurant does not use monosodium glutamate in any of its dishes.<\/p>\n<p>The lunch buffet has so far been a successful, with over 50 customers every day, majority of them walk-in tourists with a good mix of office and government workers.<\/p>\n<p>The Korean buffets costs only $12 per person and is from 11:30am to 1:30pm, Monday-Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve long been the No. 1 Korean restaurant on Saipan and with our move to a new location we hope to continue this tradition,\u201d Hong said.<\/p>\n<p>Jang Gun Restaurant comfortably sits 95 customers, with semi-private accommodations for 35. It also has a private room for 10-14 people.<\/p>\n<p>An extensive ala carte menu is also available and starts at 10am.
