{"id":307605,"date":"2019-09-09T06:06:31","date_gmt":"2019-09-08T20:06:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=307605"},"modified":"2019-09-09T06:06:31","modified_gmt":"2019-09-08T20:06:31","slug":"this-friday-is-micronesia-cleanup-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/this-friday-is-micronesia-cleanup-day\/","title":{"rendered":"This Friday is Micronesia Cleanup Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the Legislature mulls a bill that proposes to ban single-use plastic bags in the CNMI, the Commonwealth is taking yet another step toward cleaning its shores\u2014this time, with the rest of the Micronesia island community\u2014by joining a Micronesia-wide cleanup that\u2019s happening this Friday, Sept. 13. <\/p>\n<p>Last Friday, Gov. Ralph DLG Torres proclaimed Sept. 13, 2019, as Micronesia Cleanup Day, which calls for an islandwide cleanup this Friday, with activities to be done simultaneously on all Micronesian islands.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cI call on all people who call the Marianas home to join our government and private partners to clean up our beaches, villages, and our community.
