{"id":307751,"date":"2019-09-11T06:06:54","date_gmt":"2019-09-10T20:06:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=307751"},"modified":"2019-09-11T06:06:54","modified_gmt":"2019-09-10T20:06:54","slug":"cannabis-commission-is-complete","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/cannabis-commission-is-complete\/","title":{"rendered":"Cannabis Commission is complete"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commonwealth Cannabis Commission, which is tasked with coming up with the rules to regulate cannabis as an industry, is now complete.<\/p>\n<p>The commission, a five-man regulatory body, consists of Saipan representatives Matt Deleon Guerrero, Nadine Deleon Guerrero, and Valentino Taisakan, Rota representative Thomas Songsong, and recently announced Tinian representative Journie Hofschneider.<\/p>\n<p>All commissioners would be sworn in tomorrow, according to Gov. Ralph DLG Torres in a statement yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI asked them to do their first official meeting to [designate] their officers. As soon as they do that, they are up and running,\u201d he told Saipan Tribune.<\/p>\n<p>Torres noted during the signing of the cannabis bill amendment, now known as Public Law 21-5, that the 180 days provided to the commission to come up with the regulations would start when they meet for the first time as commissioners.<\/p>\n<p>Even with the six months, Torres is expecting a rough draft in the \u201cnext couple of weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI ask the [commissioners] to work really hard in first addressing residential permits, commercial permits, and then the medicinal permits.
