The CNMI Public School System will be continuing this school year without the services of PSS Finance and Budget director Christopher Ching, who has left PSS. <\/p>\n
Saipan Tribune learned from a source that Ching sent his letter of resignation to PSS leaders this week and served his last day yesterday.<\/p>\n
Ching confirmed in an interview that he has resigned from his post at PSS and that he intends to pursue a second master\u2019s degree in the U.S. mainland. Ching, who has been with PSS since 2017, describes his tenure with PSS as a \u201cchallenging yet interesting journey.\u201d <\/p>\n
In a separate Facebook post, he expressed mixed emotions about resigning.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring my time with PSS, I had to face numerous challenges such as implementation of the compensation plan, annual budget proposals, school shelter operations, Federal Emergency Management Agency reimbursement setup, and the austerity measures,\u201d Ching said. <\/p>\n
Ching thanked the PSS and Board of Education leadership for trusting and providing him the opportunity to serve as finance director. He said that he has been in communication with Education Commissioner Glenn Mu\u00f1a about his plans to continue his education since last December and he said that Mu\u00f1a understood his decision and respected it. <\/p>\n
He personally thanked Mu\u00f1a for trusting him and that he will never forget the generosity of the entire PSS. \u201cI have spent enough time [on] the islands and had enough time to rekindle [ties] with my friends and family, and I believe that it is time I continue [with my] a higher education,\u201d Ching said. <\/p>\n
Saipan Tribune sent separate inquiries to Mu\u00f1a and BOE chair Janice Tenorio regarding the PSS and BOE\u2019s comments about Ching\u2019s resignation and replacement.
