The Northern Marianas Humanities Council is accepting nominations for the 2018 Governor\u2019s Humanities Awards.<\/p>\n
This event, held annually in October as a part of CNMI Humanities Month, recognizes outstanding contributions to the humanities by individuals and organizations in the community.<\/p>\n
Nominees should have a notable humanities achievement in the past year, as demonstrated in any of the following four categories: <\/p>\n
-Research and Publication in the Humanities; <\/p>\n
-Preservation of Traditional Cultural Practices; <\/p>\n
-Preservation of CNMI History; and <\/p>\n
-Outstanding Humanities Teacher (in both classroom and non-classroom settings).<\/p>\n
A fifth category, Lifetime Achievement, recognizes significant contributions to the humanities over multiple decades. This award may be given posthumously.<\/p>\n
Nomination forms and instructions are available at the council\u2019s office in the Springs Plaza Building, Gualo Rai, or on the council website at www.nmhcouncil.org. <\/p>\n
Nominations may be made by any member of the public and are due no later than 4pm on Oct. 11, 2019. <\/p>\n
Awards will be presented in a special ceremony in October (time, date and venue to be announced).<\/p>\n
