All parents and guardians are encouraged to attend this meeting. Child care will be provided. Customers in the affected areas should expect restoration of water services soon after. This will allow Commonwealth Utilities Corp.\u2019s water operations personnel to perform repairs on a damaged main service lateral on Marshall Loop and Kwajelein Avenue on Capital Hill. All work session and meetings are on Thursdays from 12:30pm to 3pm.<\/p>\n<p>For more information contact Kumisi\u00f3n chair\/G\u00e9\u2019helo\u2019 Hope Alvarez Cristobal at 483-0097 or secretary\/Sikrit\u00e5ria Rosa Salas Palomo at 727-5522. <strong>(PR)<\/strong><em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Call for nomination<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Northern Marianas Humanities Council is accepting nominations for the 2018 Governor\u2019s Humanities Awards to recognize outstanding contributions to the humanities by individuals and organizations in the community.<\/p>\n<p>Nominees should have a notable humanities achievement in the past year, as demonstrated in any of the following four categories:  <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Research and Publication in the Humanities; <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Preservation of Traditional Cultural Practices; <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Preservation of CNMI History; and <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Outstanding Humanities Teacher (in both classroom and non-classroom settings).<\/p>\n<p>A fifth category, Lifetime Achievement, recognizes significant contributions to the humanities over multiple decades. This award may be given posthumously.<\/p>\n<p>Nomination forms and instructions are available at the council\u2019s office in the Springs Plaza Building, Gualo Rai, or on the council website at www.nmhcouncil.org. Nominations may be made by any member of the public and are due no later than 4pm on Oct. 11, 2019. <\/p>\n<p>Awards will be presented in a special ceremony in October as a part of CNMI Humanities Month (time, date and venue to be announced).<\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact council staff at 235-4785. <strong>(PR)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Military trainings set<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Navy will conduct open-ocean exercises within a 10-nautical-mile radius of the coordinates 13\u02da26\u2019\u2019N\/145\u02da08\u2019\u2019E and 13\u02da42\u2019\u2019N\/144\u02da36\u2019\u2019E during the following dates and times:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; From 6pm-10pm, Sept. 16<br \/>\n&#8211; From 2pm-7pm, Sept. 17<br \/>\n&#8211; From 6pm-11:55pm, Sept. 18<\/p>\n<p>Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 will conduct training from 11am to 11:55pm, Sept. 16-19, at the Dandan-Malojloj training site in Inarajan.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>HSC-25 will also conduct training from 8-11:55pm, Sept. 18, at Radio Barrigada.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the training. The public should be advised that routine helicopter training often accompanied with the use of blanks can occur during these trainings.<\/p>\n<p>The Navy will conduct training at Warning Area 517 during the following dates and times:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; From noon to 7pm, Sept. 17 and Sept. 19<br \/>\n&#8211; From 3pm-6pm, Sept. 20<br \/>\n&#8211; From 10am to 4pm, Sept. 21<\/p>\n<p>W-517 is activated south of latitude 12\u00b0 40\u2019 00\u201dN. W-517 begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. W-517 supports surface and aerial gunnery, missiles, and laser exercises.
