(PR)<\/p>\n<p>Zoning closed on Sept. 20<\/p>\n<p>The Saipan Zoning Office will be closed on Friday, Sept. 20, 2019, from 7:30am to 4:30pm for a professional development and training workshop for its staff. Regular office hours will resume on Monday, Sept. 23, 2019, at 7:30am. (PR)<\/p>\n<p>Checkpoints tomorrow<\/p>\n<p>The CNMI Department of Public Safety will be conducting occupant protection\/child restraint\u00a0checkpoints\u00a0tomorrow, Sept. 19, 2019. The first\u00a0checkpoint\u00a0will be on Beach Road, Garapan to Beach Road, Chalan Kanoa, from 8:15am to 9:30am. The second\u00a0checkpoint\u00a0will be on Chalan Pale Arnold, Puerto Rico to Chalan Pale Arnold, Chalan Lau Lau, from 4:30pm to 5:45pm. (PR)<\/p>\n<p>Water service interruption today<\/p>\n<p>There will be a scheduled water service interruption on Capital Hill 1200 Block, 1300 Block, Wireless Ridge, Eggi Drive, Marshall Loop and for customers along Capital Hill Isa Drive to the Kagman Mobil gas station today, Sept. 18, from 8:30am to 3:30pm. Customers in these areas should expect restoration of water services soon after. This will allow Commonwealth Utilities Corp.\u2019s water operations personnel to perform repairs on a damaged main service lateral on Marshall Loop and Kwajelein Avenue on Capital Hill. (PR)<\/p>\n<p>Tickets now on sale for Club 200<\/p>\n<p>The American Red Cross- Northern Mariana Islands Chapter will be hosting the Club 200 fundraiser on the evening of Oct. 12, at the Fiesta Resort &amp; Spa Saipan. The theme this year is Latin Nights.Door prizes will be up grabs. The grand prize is a 2019 Toyota RAV4.\u00a0 For the first time, pinatas will give party-goers a chance to capture other prizes.\u00a0 Tickets are on sale now for $100 each, $150 for VIP reserved seats and extra-caliente swag. (PR)<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nCall for nomination<\/p>\n<p>The Northern Marianas Humanities Council is accepting nominations for the 2018 Governor\u2019s Humanities Awards to recognize outstanding contributions to the humanities by individuals and organizations in the community.<br \/>\nNominees should have a notable humanities achievement in the past year, as demonstrated in any of the following four categories:  <\/p>\n<p>\t\u2022\tResearch and Publication in the Humanities;<br \/>\n\t\u2022\tPreservation of Traditional Cultural Practices;<br \/>\n\t\u2022\tPreservation of CNMI History; and<br \/>\n\t\u2022\tOutstanding Humanities Teacher (in both classroom and non-classroom settings).<\/p>\n<p>A fifth category, Lifetime Achievement, recognizes significant contributions to the humanities over multiple decades. This award may be given posthumously.<\/p>\n<p>Nomination forms and instructions are available at the council\u2019s office in the Springs Plaza Building, Gualo Rai, or on the council website at www.nmhcouncil.org.
