Recovery post-Super Typhoon Yutu continues as the CNMI-VALOR home repair program expands with the Commonwealth Advocates for Recovery Efforts partnership on Saipan. The CNMI-VALOR Program is seeking volunteers to join a community-wide initiative dedicated to rebuilding homes. <\/p>\n
Do you want to make a difference in your community and have a lasting impact on those affected by Super Typhoon Yutu? What a great opportunity to work together and help your neighbor! On Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, at 8am, the Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office will be teaming up with the CNMI-FEMA VALOR Program and C.A.R.E. to perform repairs on eligible homes. The VALOR Program provides emergency home repairs for owners, renters and occupants whose primary residence was damaged by Yutu. <\/p>\n
We are asking for volunteers to help survivors conduct repairs, so their homes are a safe place to reside. Volunteers are encouraged to bring tools such as a tape measure, hammer, handsaw, screwdrivers (Phillip and flathead), drills, and other tools that will be beneficial to the project. Volunteers should also wear appropriate attire for construction work: close-toed shoes, gloves, etc.<\/p>\n
The CNMI-FEMA VALOR Program will be providing repair materials, some tools, and equipment to the project sites.<\/p>\n
Volunteer with the CNMI-VALOR program by calling Lee Tenorio at (670) 234-6208. Kick-off meeting starts at 8am the mayor\u2019s office. Then we will conduct housing repairs on a property located in Chalan Kiya until 3:30pm. <\/p>\n
VALOR repairs are limited to windows, doors, electrical, plumbing, accessibility needs, and roofing damages caused by Super Typhoon Yutu. You may qualify for the CNMI-FEMA VALOR Program, regardless of citizenship, if you have not previously received Small Business Administration funding or FEMA assistance for home repairs related to this disaster.
