{"id":309439,"date":"2019-10-07T06:06:03","date_gmt":"2019-10-06T20:06:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=309439"},"modified":"2019-10-07T06:06:03","modified_gmt":"2019-10-06T20:06:03","slug":"just-culture-training-at-chcc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/just-culture-training-at-chcc\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Just Culture\u2019 training at CHCC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a bid to align the Commonwealth Health Care Corp.\u2019s practices and commitment to safe quality care with other organizations, its staff recently went through training sessions about fostering a \u201cJust Culture\u201d in a healthcare setting.<\/p>\n<p>Fostering a just culture means creating an environment where employees understand that, in order to correct mistakes and deficiencies, people need to speak up and report incidents and, by focusing on behaviors and process improvement, have an open and honest discussion about an incident and how it can be fixed and how to address behaviors which contributed to the incident.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cJust Culture\u201d training is a standard practice in many healthcare settings in the U.S. mainland.<\/p>\n<p>The CHCC training featured Adam Archuleta and Dr. John Meeth from Badger Health and Associates LLC, and the training was held from Aug. 26 to Sept. 6, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>All CHCC staff were required to attend a session, including staff from the Tinian and Rota health centers, who attended the trainings through video calls. The training went over several subjects relating to patient safety and overall accountability at CHCC, with a focus on fostering what is known as a \u201cJust Culture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the trainings, CHCC staff at all levels must understand the importance of being accountable to themselves, other co-workers, and patients for the choices they make in delivering safe, high quality care.
