{"id":309789,"date":"2019-10-11T06:00:52","date_gmt":"2019-10-10T20:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=309789"},"modified":"2019-10-11T06:00:52","modified_gmt":"2019-10-10T20:00:52","slug":"applicants-sought-for-mc-internship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/applicants-sought-for-mc-internship\/","title":{"rendered":"Applicants sought for MC internship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Micronesia Challenge is now accepting applications for its Young Champion Internship Program for 2019-2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are seeking to place and support young conservation \u201cchampions\u201d in each of the five island jurisdictions of Palau, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Northern Mariana Islands, and Guam, to assist with outreach and education of the [Micronesia Challenge],\u201d said regional coordinator Geraldine Datuin. <\/p>\n<p>Up to $6,000 is available for each jurisdiction. <\/p>\n<p>Applicants for the internship program must be a citizen and\/or a permanent resident of Micronesia, between the ages 17-25, and currently enrolled in a college\/university and\/or a recent college graduate.<\/p>\n<p>The applicants must also be passionate about and dedicated to ensuring the wellbeing of Micronesians and their unique and vital natural landscapes and resources. <\/p>\n<p>The interns are typically expected to work for about 40 hours a month, for an entire year. <\/p>\n<p>The \u201cyoung champions\u201d will work with the Micronesia Challenge coordinator, Focal Points, and partners, and will be housed in host agencies and non-government organizations in each jurisdiction. <\/p>\n<p>Deadline for the submission of applications is on Oct. 31, 2019, Thursday. <\/p>\n<p>The Micronesia Challenge was launched in 2005 by the region\u2019s heads of government, in recognition of the growing threats to Micronesia\u2019s natural resources.
