{"id":310065,"date":"2019-10-16T06:00:04","date_gmt":"2019-10-15T20:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=310065"},"modified":"2019-10-16T06:00:04","modified_gmt":"2019-10-15T20:00:04","slug":"saipan-to-host-terrestrial-conservation-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/saipan-to-host-terrestrial-conservation-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Saipan to host terrestrial conservation conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Join experts in conservation and management from the CNMI and Guam at the 3rd Annual Marianas Terrestrial Conservation Conference &amp; Workshop, which will be held on Nov. 18-20, at the Hibiscus Hall of Fiesta Resort &amp; Spa Saipan in Garapan. <\/p>\n<p>This will be the first time the conference will be held on Saipan. The conference was started by Dr. Haldre Rogers, a professor at Iowa State University, who saw the need for an actual scientific conference for scientists and researchers working on conservation issues in the CNMI and Guam. <\/p>\n<p>Division of Fish and Wildlife\u2019s Jill Liske-Clark, one of the volunteer-organizers, said the conference is a chance for the CNMI public to hear about the researches and conservation programs on the islands.<\/p>\n<p>Registration is free and open to the public, and will include presentations on terrestrial conservation, field trips and activities such as pre-conference proa rides and Mariana swiftlet field trip, and a lizard identification trip at American Memorial Park.
