Bautista)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Grace Christian Academy and Saipan International School 1 are tied for the lead in the 2019-2020 PSS Interscholastic Girls High School Volleyball League.<\/p>\n<p>The Lady Eagles and Lady Geckos won their respective matches at the Marianas High School Gymnasium last week to earn similar 7-0 records and enjoy the top spot in the 10-team competition. GCA and SIS 1 are ahead of Marianas High School 2 (6-1), MHS 1 (4-3), Kagman High School (2-5), Mount Carmel School 1 (2-5) and MCS 2 (2-5), Saipan Southern High School (2-4), Agape Christian School (2-4), and SIS 2 (0-7).<\/p>\n<p>The Lady Eagles remained undefeated after prevailing against Agape, SIS 2, and KHS last week, while SIS 1 shared the same perfect mark following its victories over MHS 2, KHS, MHS 1, and MCS 1. <\/p>\n<p>Against Agape in last Saturday\u2019s make-up game, GCA cruised to a straight set win, 25-9, 25-9. The Lady Eagles also needed only two sets to beat SIS 2, 25-13, 25-14,  in another make-up match last weekend. Versus Kagman last Thursday, GCA notched a 25-10, 25-10 triumph.<\/p>\n<p>Also last Thursday, SIS 1 topped MHS 2, 25-18, 25-21. For their second game in the same day, the Lady Geckos took three sets to beat MCS 1. The Lady Knights prevailed in the first set 25-20, but SIS 1 redeemed itself in the second set, 25-14, and completed the come-from-behind win with a 15-7 triumph in the deciding third.<\/p>\n<p>For its pair of victories last Saturday, SIS 1 swept both Kagman and MHS 1. The Lady Geckos registered a 25-13, 25-11 win over the Lady Ayuyus and downed MHS 1, 25-9, 26-24.<\/p>\n<p>In other results, Saipan Southern outclassed Kagman, 25-22, 25-22, while MHS 2 slipped past MHS 1, 20-25, 25-21, 15-10.<\/p>\n<p>MHS 1 had another three-set match last week and this time it won over MCS 1. The Lady Knights took the first set, 25-19, but MHS 1 fought back in the second, 25-12, and then squashed the Lady Knights in the third, 15-12. For its third game, MHS 1 also went through three sets before beating Kagman, 25-13, 21-15, 15-5.<\/p>\n<p>MHS 2 played two more matches and won both of them after defeating Agape, 25-11, 25-9, and MCS 2, 25-22, 25-22.<\/p>\n<p>Mt. Carmel 2 averted a shutout last week, as it triumphed over SIS 2, 25-10, 25-21, while MCS 1 also won in straight sets against Saipan Southern, 26-24, 25-20.
