Marquez, one of the Lions Clubs International, District 204 Region 2 officers, passed away last Oct. 11 at the age of 77. <\/p>\n<p>Marquez was an active member of the Lions Clubs for six years and served as the membership chair of the Saipan Centennial Lions Club. She also was a Melvin Jones Fellow recipient.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe call her our Lion Mother since she was, indeed, a mother to most of us, not just in Lions Clubs but even in the community,\u201d said Region 2 chair Annamae Adaza. \u201cShe was also one of the volunteers of the mobile consular [outreach] of the Philippine Consulate General in Guam.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A 6pm nightly rosary, headed by the Sto. Nino Group, is being held by Marquez\u2019s family, relatives, and friends at the Kristo Rai Church in Garapan. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo words can adequately express our sadness for her death and we thank the family, relatives, friends, Legion of Mary group, Zion Choir, [United Filipino Organization], and Lions Clubs International District 204 for the great support and assistance,\u201d said Saipan Centennial Lions Club president Arceli Lizama.<\/p>\n<p>The family will be repatriating Marquez\u2019s remains to the Philippines and will advise the public of the viewing once the flight is confirmed. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nenita V.
