A man who allegedly beat up another person in Chalan Kanoa last June was arrested Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Ma Kuch, 29, was arrested in Dandan for assault and battery, and disturbing the peace. He was brought before Superior Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan yesterday for bail hearing. <\/p>\n
Bogdan allowed the temporary release of Kuch to his wife as third-party custodian on a $5,000 unsecured bond. Preliminary hearing will be on Oct. 24 at 1:30pm.<\/p>\n
According to police detective Lupe Ann C. Lizama, a police officer responded a call about disturbance in progress at the JYA Apartment in Chalan Kanoa last June 24 at midnight.<\/p>\n
Lizama stated in her report that the officer met with the victim and a witness at the scene and learned that the suspect, Kuch, had already left.<\/p>\n
She learned that, prior to the incident, the victim and the female witness were standing and talking on the road near the JYA Apartment, when a car that was driving recklessly almost hit the victim and the witness. The victim yelled at the driver to slow down. The driver, later identified as Kuch, made a U-turn, got out and confronted the victim.<\/p>\n
Kuch, who was reportedly drunk, allegedly pushed the victim on the chest, then punched him repeatedly. <\/p>\n
The witness said Kuch\u2019s wife and children were inside the car and the wife allegedly kept apologizing to the victim and the witness.<\/p>\n
The victim was later taken to the hospital with a 1.5-cm laceration on the left side of his head.<\/p>\n
Lizama stated that she later interviewed Kuch on Sept. 28, during which he allegedly admitted punching the victim for yelling at him.<\/p>\n
Lizama said that, according to Kuch, he was driving into his parents-in-law\u2019s apartment at JYA to pick up his family when a couple were standing on the side of the road.<\/p>\n
Kuch said the couple were drinking beer with their children in the area, which prevented him from driving through.<\/p>\n
