(Kimberly A. Bautista)

Marianas High School student Jaivan Dela Pena hopes to inspire his fellow youth to get into bodybuilding after winning in the 9th Dee Clayton Classic Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship last Saturday at the Pacific Islands Club Saipan.

Dela Pena—the overall winner in the Physique Division—encouraged those who who want to try bodybuilding to take the plunge and just go for it.

“There are opportunities for you guys, so go for it and better yourself, do it and just go for it. I did this to inspire all teens,” the MHS senior said.

Last Saturday’s event was Dela Pena’s first time to compete in the DC Classic and he vows it won’t be his last.

“I didn’t know I was going to win overall because after I got third place for Classic Physique, I thought it was over and I felt like I wouldn’t win anything at all. But hard work pays off and I got the overall physique and I’m happy for that. I will do it again,” Dela Pena said.

While Dela Pena is a newcomer, Natalia Larina competed in the DC Classic for the second straight year and defended her title in the Bikini Division. She returned to the competition because she grew to love the sport and it has motivated her to work on herself.

“It’s better to just make a goal, and then do whatever you can to achieve this goal. It’s not impossible. I will think about joining again next year,” Larina said.

Jerome Diyco is another repeat participant and was named overall winner in the Classic Physique. He also won in his DC Classic debut last year, but not overall, so the results from his second tournament surprised him.

“I wasn’t expecting to win overall for Classic Physique. It was an amazing journey to be coached by Aaron Tomokane and Gerald Galang. They’ve been with me through it all. Without their guidance, I wouldn’t have been able to achieve what I did last Saturday,” he said.

“What I did different this year was we adjusted mycarb cycle, we just kept everything in check, I just kept going back to my coaches and making sure I am on the right track every single week,” Diyco added.

Marianas High School student Jaivan Dela Pena hopes to inspire his fellow youth to get…

[5

post-310205","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-sports
["GET
