The Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office will soon start implementing the master mapping of streets on Saipan as well as finally providing numbers to every homes, with their first stop in Koblerville.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are going to start giving homeowners and business owners their street address number,\u201d Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office chief of staff Henry Hofschneider said. \u201cWe will start in the Koblerville village homestead, the former Marianas Islands Housing Authority turnkey subdivision, and Tottotville subdivision.\u201d <\/p>\n
The numbering in Koblerville is expected to be completed within 30 days.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur contract with HK [Pangelinan and Associates LLC] would be for 30 days. So, we are looking at kicking off in a couple of weeks,\u201d Hofschneider added.<\/p>\n
HK Pangelinan and Associates will be sending out people to every home and assigning numbers to each home. They will be giving homeowners a letter that gives them their street address and number and some samples that shows them how to put up the numbers on their houses or home units. <\/p>\n
The house number that the homeowner will then affix to their house will be a minimum of 4 inches in height and up to 6 inches, with a thickness that is more than 3\/8-inch. <\/p>\n
Owners would have to comply with these specifications set for the posting of the new addresses so that people passing by from the road could see the number, even if the house or the building is a few feet away from the road.<\/p>\n
The mayor\u2019s office started the contract with HK Pangelinan almost nine months ago, which gave birth to the Saipan Street Directory Commission project.<\/p>\n
During the time, the contractor physically went out and drove around the villages all over Saipan, identifying all the roads and identifying the different lots. Maps were checked to ensure each lot that is up for the numbering system would be identified. <\/p>\n
That was done with the help of the Department of Public Works, the Department of Public Safety, and the Department of Public Lands.<\/p>\n
