{"id":310519,"date":"2019-10-23T06:06:17","date_gmt":"2019-10-22T20:06:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=310519"},"modified":"2019-10-23T06:06:17","modified_gmt":"2019-10-22T20:06:17","slug":"resiliency-fest-to-celebrate-cnmis-strength","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/resiliency-fest-to-celebrate-cnmis-strength\/","title":{"rendered":"Resiliency Fest to celebrate CNMI\u2019s strength"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Resiliency Fest is happening this Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Marianas Business Plaza, in a celebration of the strength and resilience of the CNMI a year after Super Typhoon Yutu and two weeks after Super Typhoon Hagibis. Admission is free.<\/p>\n<p>Organized by the Lady Diann Torres Foundation, the festival, which will be from 5pm to 10pm, will feature The John Dank Show and local artists like Studio 29:11, Saipan Music &amp; Dance Studio, Goddhy, Dagu Diggers, and Big Jay Selepeo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is a celebration of our strength and how resilient our people are,\u201d first lady Diann Torres said. \u201cWe want to say, look, we have come this far. Some people are still recovering, some people are still in tents, but we are here. Our life, our spirit is still alive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There will also be a distribution of relief goods. Crisis counselors and representatives of agencies who can provide needed community services will also be there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur crisis counselors\u2026will be on deck to provide counseling for people who need it, and other agencies that can provide services in terms of mental health, of feeling good. We are working closely with partners that can give those services for free,\u201d Torres added.<\/p>\n<p>The foundation is also selling \u201cresiliency shirts\u201d for adults and children, as a fundraiser. The money that will be raised will be used to fund more community projects in the CNMI.<\/p>\n<p>Remembering how the community gathered together and held each other during the typhoons that hit the Marianas, Torres said the event is also about unity. \u201cOur focus is celebrating resiliency and uniting one and all. We\u2019re celebrating resiliency. We are still here, we are alive.
