(Photos by MARK RABAGO)

A store that used to sell bicycles and bike parts and accessories out of Taro Sue in Chinatown has moved to a new standalone location in Chalan Kanoa.

The Bike Shop opened on the ground floor of the Courtney Building in the heart of Chalan Kanoa last Oct. 1.

The establishment is owned and operated by longtime bicycle aficionado Alex Gozon, with his daughter, Kriz, serving as manager.

With an impending renovation at Taro Sue, the elder Gozon decided to strike out on his own and start a new store. Luckily, there was a vacancy at the Courtney Building.

The only problem was, according to Kriz, is that most of her father’s longtime and loyal customers are from villages near Chinatown like Garapan, Gualo Rai, and northern Saipan.

That wrinkle proved not much of a worry, as cyclists from near or far have been quick to adapt to The Bike Shop’s new location.

Not only has the shop retained its loyal customer base, it has also gained a new one with more cyclists from the south like San Antonio and Koblerville now patronizing the shop.

“Our move to Chalan Kanoa has been pretty good. We’ve been here a couple of weeks and we’ve had slowly built a loyal following. Surprisingly a lot of people bike down from the south to come here. A lot of them are closer to us now and they have more reason to come,” said Kriz Gozon.

The Bike Shop is your one-stop shop for anything and everything you need as a bike hobbyist.

“If you need bike parts and service, we have it. Various bike parts from low-end to high-end, we have it. Bring in your bike if its broken, we’ll fix it,” she said.

Aside from bike repair and service, the store also sells high-end and low-end adult bikes (Lite Speed, Giant), children’s bikes, tires, tubes, helmets, gloves, water bottles, pedals and other accessories, and apparel like Cannondale, Giant, Orbea, and Castelli.

Originally, The Bike Shop started as a part of Taro Sue in 2010. Alex Gozon took over the establishment in December 2018 before deciding to relocate it to its current address in Chalan Kanoa just after the post office traffic light.

The Bike Shop currently has a 15% off sale on children’s bicycles. It is open from 9am to 6pm, Monday-Saturday. For more information, call Alex Gozon at 483-3481 or Kriz Gozon at 989-5749.

Manager Kriz Gozon shows off one of his father’s prized bikes.

The Bike Shop sells high- and low-end bicycles at its newly opened store in Chalan Kanoa.

[11
1351
post-310822","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-business","tag-chalan-kanoa
["GET
