Islam, a female ex-convict who was accused of possessing 9.6 gross grams of marijuana and a glass paraphernalia that contained methamphetamine or \u201cice\u201d residue, pleaded guilty last week and was slapped with a 42-day prison term.<\/span><br \/>\nIslam pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a controlled substance as part of a plea agreement with the government.<\/p>\n<p>Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo sentenced Islam to 42 days in prison without parole, with credit for 28 days of time served.<\/p>\n<p>She was required to report to the Department of Corrections on April 15, 2014, to serve the remainder of her sentence. She will be released on April 29, 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Islam was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and $100 court assessment fee.<\/p>\n<p>According to the plea deal, Islam was found in possession of materials containing a residue of crystal methamphetamine on April 11, 2013, on Saipan.<\/p>\n<p>Assistant attorney general Margo Brown-Badawy represented the government in the case. Chief public defender Douglas Hartig served as counsel for Islam.<\/p>\n<p>Police arrested the 46-year-old Islam in April 2013.<\/p>\n<p>When a police officer asked her who owns the six baggies containing green leafy substances that were seized from her, Islam allegedly replied, \u201cMe, doll. I like to smoke marijuana.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Police detective Flora Danica B. Aguon stated in her report that she arrested Islam as she and other detectives were executing a search warrant for another defendant in San Antonio.<\/p>\n<p>Aguon said Islam was in possession of a bag that contained six baggies of green leafy substances and other drug paraphernalia.<\/p>\n<p>Aguon said the field test indicated that the green substance was positive for marijuana, while the residue in the glass was positive for methamphetamine or \u201cice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Islam was imprisoned in 1996 for drug related crimes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Remedio P.
