{"id":311455,"date":"2019-11-06T06:00:46","date_gmt":"2019-11-05T20:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=311455"},"modified":"2019-11-06T06:00:46","modified_gmt":"2019-11-05T20:00:46","slug":"uscg-uh-manoa-agree-to-boost-student-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/uscg-uh-manoa-agree-to-boost-student-opportunities\/","title":{"rendered":"USCG, UH M\u0101noa agree to boost student opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>HONOLULU<\/strong>\u2014The U.S. Coast Guard has signed a memorandum of agreement with the University of Hawaii at M\u0101noa as part of the Coast Guard\u2019s Minority-Serving Institutions Partnership Program for increased student opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership agreement is designed to optimize outreach and engagement efforts and have program participants work in conjunction with the Coast Guard\u2019s overall civilian and military officer recruitment efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Central to this partnership is the Coast Guard\u2019s College Student Pre-Commissioning Initiative scholarship program that is available to students enrolled at minority serving institutions such as UH. There are currently four CSPI students enrolled at UH M\u0101noa and two at UH Hilo. <\/p>\n<p>UH M\u0101noa is one of 132 Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions nationwide participating in the CSPI program.
