{"id":312082,"date":"2019-11-14T06:06:24","date_gmt":"2019-11-13T20:06:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=312082"},"modified":"2019-11-14T06:06:24","modified_gmt":"2019-11-13T20:06:24","slug":"5-3-magnitude-earthquake-hits-saipan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/5-3-magnitude-earthquake-hits-saipan\/","title":{"rendered":"5.3-magnitude  earthquake  hits Saipan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 5.3-magnitude earthquake was detected yesterday, Nov. 13, 2019, at 12:59am some 137 kilometers east-northeast of Saipan, but the CNMI Emergency Operations Center assured that the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued no tsunami warnings or advisories for this earthquake.<\/p>\n<p>This comes soon after the EOC reported a 4.9-magnitude earthquake on Nov. 8 2019, that occurred at 5:48pm some 212 kilometers west-northwest of Farallon de Pajaros. There was also no tsunami warnings or advisories issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.<\/p>\n<p>In Guam, a report of a 5.1-magnitude earthquake occurred at 2:28am on Nov. 6 some 180 kilometers south-southwest of Merizo. That follows a 4.5 magnitude earthquake that occurred at 12:39pm on Nov. 5 about 97 km southwest of Merizo. In both cases, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued no tsunami warnings or advisories.<\/p>\n<p>A 4.9-magnitude\u00a0earthquake\u00a0occurred 240 kilometers from Pagan on Nov. 3 at 9am. There were also no tsunami warnings or advisories for that temblor.<\/p>\n<p>Farther out in the Pacific, EOC reported a 6.9-magnitude earthquake in the Tonga Islands at 8:44am on Nov. 5, 2019. Based on all available data, there was no tsunami threat to the CNMI from that earthquake.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact the CNMI EOC State Warning Point at 237-8000.
