The Commonwealth Health Care Corp.\u2019s board of trustees has re-elected Lauri Ogumoro to her current post as board chairwoman, while also electing newly-inducted board member Edward \u201cTofila\u201d Deleon Guerrero as the board\u2019s vice chairman.<\/p>\n
Both were nominated by board member Polly Masga, and the board unanimously approved both nominations yesterday at CHCC\u2019s Public Health and Emergency Preparedness Program conference room. <\/p>\n
Ogumoro and Deleon Guerrero will both serve two-year terms. <\/p>\n
Ogumoro, who has been with the CHCC board since 2017, said that CHCC\u2019s current goal is to resolve its ongoing financial issues, while catering to the needs of the community, public health, and the health of the organization as a whole.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of different moving parts [at CHCC] and we can\u2019t lose sight of what and why we are doing it\u2026as it is all for the patients and the CNMI community,\u201d Ogumorro said. <\/p>\n
Ogumoro, who is also executive director of Karidat Social Services, said they will continue to work with CHCC CEO Esther Mu\u00f1a and her staff to strive to provide quality health care for the CNMI. \u201cWe have a lot of needs and, with the CHCC outgrowing the Commonwealth Health Center, we need to come up with ideas to expand and benefit the CHCC,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n
The other members of the board are Masga and Corrine Hofschneider Santos from Tinian. Masga, Ogumoro, and Deleon Guerrero are the elected members of Saipan, while Santos is the lone representative of Tinian. Ogumorro urged the governor to appoint a member from Rota.
