Personnel of the NMI Judiciary\u2019s Drug Court met at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan last Nov. 15, for a team workshop that focused on the growth and efficacy of drug courts in servicing the needs of the community with addiction treatment and recovery. <\/p>\n
Team members shared the lessons they learned from attending the last National Association of Drug Court Professionals annual training. Treatment providers then gave training on their services and model of operation and how they apply to Drug Court participants. <\/p>\n
Through collaborative efforts, Drug Court staff, led by Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio and Drug Court manager Edward Diaz, focused on evolving drug court policies and procedures, improving the participant handbook, and modifying program tracks and phases to better respond to current demands. <\/p>\n
After the workshop, Diaz said, \u201c[The] Drug Court is always looking for ways to improve the program, and this workshop is one of many activities that are planned ahead.\u201d Highlighting the contributions of team members during the workshop, Diaz described their contributions as \u201cmultidisciplinary\u201d and \u201cinvaluable.\u201d <\/p>\n
With Drug Court now on its third year, this workshop gave Drug Court staff an opportunity to evaluate the efficacy of the program. As the Drug Court continues to grow and evolve, it shall continue to serve the community to the best of its capabilities. <\/p>\n
