{"id":312645,"date":"2019-11-22T06:00:56","date_gmt":"2019-11-21T20:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=312645"},"modified":"2019-11-22T06:00:56","modified_gmt":"2019-11-21T20:00:56","slug":"finance-nmc-in-talks-about-money-owed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/finance-nmc-in-talks-about-money-owed\/","title":{"rendered":"Finance, NMC in talks about money owed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Finance is in talks with the Northern Marianas College about previous obligations that amount to around $2 million, according to interim NMC president Frankie Eliptico and Finance Secretary David Atalig.<\/p>\n<p>Atalig noted that his office is in communication with Eliptico\u2019s office on making good on this financial obligation that originated from fiscal year 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Atalig confirmed that his department owes the community college about $2 million from the previous fiscal year. \u201cThat is true and are part of the total obligations I still owe,\u201d he said in a message. \u201cI am in communications with the NMC president [Eliptico] to make amends on that.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Atalig indicated that both offices are close to a resolution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2026will continue to make transfers weekly to help their [NMC\u2019s] financial position,\u201d he said.
