{"id":31308,"date":"2014-04-02T11:18:26","date_gmt":"2014-04-02T03:18:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tribune.ctsi-logistics.com\/?p=31308"},"modified":"2014-04-02T11:18:26","modified_gmt":"2014-04-02T03:18:26","slug":"registration-still-ongoing-2014-liberation-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/registration-still-ongoing-2014-liberation-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Registration still ongoing for 2014 Liberation Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">With the merging of the CNMI Liberation Day and the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Saipan and Tinian, organizing committee chair Vicente Camacho said they are still accepting registration at the Veterans Affairs Office on Capital Hill for the various activities being planned to mark both occasions.<\/span><br \/>\nHe said Liberation Day registration for parade floats, Liberation Day Queen candidates, entertainers, and concessions are still ongoing and that there is yet no deadline to close up the June event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are still open and receiving registration. Anybody is welcome to join,\u201d Camacho said.<\/p>\n<p>For the parades, Camacho is asking for the participation of community groups, private agencies, and organizations.<\/p>\n<p>According to Camacho, there are already several candidates lined up for this year\u2019s Liberation Day Queen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are still accepting those interested for Liberation Day Queen candidates and for anyone who wants to be a part of the event,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Those who want to operate concession stands are also welcome to register. The fee is $600 for non-consumables, $700 for consumables, and $500 for non-profit organizations.<\/p>\n<p>Entertainers are also welcome to be a part of the celebration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the community is requested to help provide the entertainment\u2014those who want to do talent shows, performances, and any form of entertainment,\u201d Camacho said.<\/p>\n<p>Saipan traditionally holds Liberation Day on the Fourth of July, coinciding with the U.S. Independence Day.<\/p>\n<p>The two-week-long celebration kicks off on June 6 and culminates in a parade on June 15.<\/p>\n<p>The 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Saipan and Tinian will pay tribute to the veterans, both Japanese and Americans, as well as World War II survivors in a special ceremony to be held at the American Memorial Park on June 15.
