The guest speaker is Lynn Tenorio,  research assistant, University of Guam.    Her presentation will be on the Betel Nut Intervention Trials Project. (PR)<\/p>\n<p>CHCC Children\u2019s Clinic to open on Saturdays for appointments<\/p>\n<p>To better accommodate patient schedules and the growing demand for primary care, the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. Children\u2019s Clinic at the main Navy Hill campus will begin accepting appointments on Saturdays from 7:30am to 4:30pm effective Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020.<br \/>\n\u201cThanks to the very hard work of our Children\u2019s Clinic staff, our primary care patient volume has significantly increased, so hours and staffing are expanding to meet the demand. Access to primary care improves health outcomes, so this is a positive step to help our young patients avoid ER and hospital visits,\u201d said CHCC CEO Esther Muna.<br \/>\nNo walk-ins will be accepted at the Children\u2019s Clinic on Saturdays. (PR)<\/p>\n<p>\u2018A Night with the Knights\u2019 set<\/p>\n<p>Mount Carmel School\u2019s AlumKnight Association invites AlumKnights and community members to the association\u2019s fundraising banquet, \u201cNight with the Knights\u201d on Feb. 1, 2020, in the Magellan at the Pacific Islands Club from 6pm to 10pm.\u00a0 This year\u2019s event will feature a school yearbook montage, raffle prizes, music, dancing, and the announcement of the 2020 AlumKnight of the Year and the 2020 Class of the Year. (PR)<\/p>\n<p>Guam advisory on income tax filing<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Revenue and Taxation in Guam is currently preparing to update its programming and processing systems for the 2020 income tax filing season, which is for tax year 2019. DRT will not be accepting individual or corporate income tax returns for tax year 2019 at this time. We will advise at a later time on an official date when tax returns will be accepted. (PR)<\/p>\n<p>Navy training in Dandan-Malojloj, open ocean, Warning Area 517 <\/p>\n<p>ASAN, Guam\u2014The U.S. Navy will conduct training from 11am to 11:55pm on Jan. 6-9 in Dandan-Malojloj.<br \/>\nThe U.S. Navy will also conduct live-fire training from 7am to 4pm on Jan 6-10 at Warning Area 517.<br \/>\nThe U.S. Navy will conduct open ocean exercises from 10am to 9pm on Jan. 7-8 at the following coordinates: 13\u02da29\u201dN\/144\u02da25\u201dE. The public, fishermen, and boat operators are advised to remain clear within five nautical miles of the training area.<br \/>\nThese types of trainings are designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the training.<br \/>\nIt is recommended the public, fishermen, and marine tour operators monitor the U.S. Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories. (PR)<\/p>\n<p>Ukulele classes at JKPL<\/p>\n<p>The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library registration for beginner and intermediate ukulele class is ongoing. It is open to children ages 8 years or older and adults. The total cost for eight class sessions is $50. Ukulele classes are held at the public library in partnership with ukulele instructor Larry Lee and children. Sessions are set to begin on Jan. 7, 2020, every Tuesday from 4:30pm to 5:30pm.<br \/>\nThe JKPL ukulele class is based on \u201cFirst come; first paid.\u201d Students must provide their own ukuleles and a folder to hold music sheets (plastic sheet protectors and a 3-ring binder are recommended). Parents\/guardians must sign a liability waiver Form on behalf of their participating children and must adhere to public library policies and procedures.
