SCA is a non-profit organization that shelters abandoned dogs and cats, provides care, and medical needs until they get adopted.

A total of nine different types of Christmas shots from participants were presented to tasters. The shots varied from dessert shots to shots with small alcohol content. Participant Yogi Singh emerged as the winner with his entry called Boonie Shot referring to another name for a local dog. It had cinnamon, Kalhua, a bit of vodka, Bailey’s, and served hot.

A total of $226 was raised and according to another participant, Michea Thacker, from Oregon, she didn’t think twice about joining when she learned that the end goal is for a good cause. “I am particularly a competitive person but I will do it for a good cause and it makes it so much fun when the proceeds go to a good cause because it’s worth it.”

Many community members showed up to support the MC Cafe Christmas Shot competition held last month as proceeds will go for the benefit of non-profit organization Saipan Cares for Animals.

“It’s great that MC Café sponsors these kinds of events as a lot of people don’t have time to volunteer so it makes it easy to be active in the community when we have events like this,” she added.

MC Café owner Elina Gharti Chhetri was pleased with the turnout of the event. “It was a very unique idea that one of our dearest friend suggested that we do.
