(GUAM NATIONAL GUARD)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The mission continues as eight soldiers from the Guam National Guard departed on Jan. 8 en route to Yuma, Arizona, in support of Operation Guardian Support at the southwest border.<\/p>\n<p>The soldiers are part of a second rotation that will replace soldiers returning home. They will be tasked with providing operational support for domestic operations at the southern border between the United States and Mexico. As of this time, there are about 37 soldiers and airmen supporting that mission.<\/p>\n<p>More than 200 Guam\u00a0Guard\u00a0soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 294th Infantry Regiment are supporting a peacekeeping mission in the Sinai Peninsula. They are part of a Multinational Force and Observers team, consisting of about 12 countries, who supervise the implementation of the security provisions of the 1979 Egyptian-Israeli Treaty of Peace and employ best efforts to prevent any violation of its terms.<\/p>\n<p>Guam\u00a0Guard\u00a0soldiers are also supporting the security forces mission for Task Force Talon,\u00a0who is responsible for operating the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense gear located at Andersen Air Force Base, Yigo, Guam.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>One Guam\u00a0Guard airman is deployed to the Centcom region supporting Operation INHERENT RESOLVE and its mission there.<\/p>\n<p>The Guam\u00a0Guard confirmed yesterday that there are no Guam\u00a0Guard\u00a0soldiers or airmen currently serving in Iraq.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Guard asks the public for their continued support of our soldiers, airmen, and their families,\u201d said Maj. Gen. Esther Aguigui, The Adjutant General of the Guam National Guard. \u201cWe still have soldiers and airmen who are currently deployed or supporting missions around the world. Please keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers now and for the duration of their deployments,\u201d she added.
