{"id":316263,"date":"2020-01-24T06:00:52","date_gmt":"2020-01-23T20:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=316263"},"modified":"2020-01-24T06:00:52","modified_gmt":"2020-01-23T20:00:52","slug":"apafs-joins-the-un-pri-as-a-network-supporter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/apafs-joins-the-un-pri-as-a-network-supporter\/","title":{"rendered":"APAFS joins the UN PRI as a \u2018network supporter\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>HAGATNA, Guam\u2014<\/strong>The Asia Pacific Association for Fiduciary Studies, or APAFS, has joined the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment organization as a \u201cnetwork supporter\u201d for its role in promoting responsible investment.<\/p>\n<p>Network supporters are non-profit peer organizations that perform an important role in raising awareness of responsible investment within the investment community and that support the inclusion of responsible investment in the investment processes of institutional investors. APAFS is one of 53 network supporters worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>UN PRI is the leading advocate of responsible investment worldwide, working to understand the implications of environmental, social and corporate governance factors for investment, and to support its international network of investor signatories in incorporating these factors into their investment decisions. UN PRI encourages these actions to improve returns and better manage risks. <\/p>\n<p>UN PRI (www.unpri.org) was formed in 2005 when then-UN Secretary General Kofi Annan asked a group of the world\u2019s largest institutional investors to help draft the Principles for Responsible Investment. The 20 investors in this group\u2014drawn from institutions in 12 countries\u2014were supported by an additional 70 investment, governmental, social and environmental experts. UN PRI currently represents over $40 trillion in assets globally.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_316266\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-316266\" style=\"width: 68px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Fiona-Reynolds.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"68\" height=\"68\" class=\"size-full wp-image-316266\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-316266\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Reynolds<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe are very pleased to welcome [APAFS] as a network supporter and we look forward to working with APAFS and its institutional fund membership\u201d, said Fiona Reynolds, CEO of UN PRI. \u201cAPAFS\u2019s leadership provides a model for other institutional fund sponsor associations. Its mission is to promote prudent stewardship through fiduciary education and to lead advocacy efforts on behalf of its membership.  \u201cBecoming the UN PRI network supporter in our region was a logical step for our advocacy of prudent stewardship.
