Iakopo, she said MVA wants to continue to welcome tourists, even from China, despite the viral outbreak. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, MVA is concerned because the outbreak started in Wuhan, China and, with our Chinese visitors, we want to make sure that that virus does not come into the CNMI. \u2026We want to remain a low-risk destination and we want to continue to welcome tourists,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>Iakopo said MVA has partnered with the Division of Public Health at the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. to spread awareness about 2019-nCoV. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith our partnership with public health and the hospital\u2019s preparedness program, and other agencies as well, we are spreading awareness and educating our community in what to do and what not to do, where to go and where to stay away from for a little bit,\u201d Iakopo said. <\/p>\n<p>According to a CHCC statement, symptoms of 2019-nCoV include fever, and symptoms associated with lower respiratory illness such as coughing and difficulty breathing.<\/p>\n<p>It was recently discovered that 2019-nCoV can be spread from person to person thorough coughing and sneezing, similar to how the flu is spread. <\/p>\n<p>The spread of the virus can be combated with good hygiene practices like washing one\u2019s hands often with soap and water for at least, 20 seconds, using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available, covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, and avoiding contact with sick people. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Marianas Visitors Authority still encourages tourists from China to visit the CNMI despite the&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":24,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[900],"tags":[257],"class_list":["post-316317","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-featured","tag-nmi"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/316317","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/24"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=316317"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/316317\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=316317"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=316317"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=316317"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
