{"id":316606,"date":"2020-01-30T06:07:21","date_gmt":"2020-01-29T20:07:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=316606"},"modified":"2020-01-30T06:07:21","modified_gmt":"2020-01-29T20:07:21","slug":"feb-to-be-named-parents-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/feb-to-be-named-parents-month\/","title":{"rendered":"Feb. to be named parents\u2019 month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Parents will take center stage in February with the designation of the month as National Parent Leadership Month, marking the 16th year of the celebration.<\/p>\n<p>The Division of Youth Services will be hosting the proclamation signing ceremony on Jan. 31 at 10am, at the Kagman Community Center in Kagman.<\/p>\n<p>Parents will be recognized for their leadership and commitment to their roles in the home and community. Within the month, there will be various classes that focus on parents, public events such as a roadside waving, movie nights, and a walkathon.<\/p>\n<p>One of the programs that DYS will offers throughout February is the Parents Anonymous group meetings that will happen every Thursday, from 6pm to 8pm. These group meetings focus on parents helping other parents, but is also available for individuals\/couples who want to be parents or will be parents, or aunts\/uncles who take care of their nieces\/nephews and want to enhance their supervision skills. Childcare workers, and anyone else are more than welcomed to join.<\/p>\n<p>According to community development specialist Mary Olopai, \u201cwe just want to help parents or future parents get themselves ready with what they\u2019re planning to do. This program isn\u2019t necessarily to tell you how to be a parent.
