The program caters to children ages 5 to 12 and has been such a huge success,” he said.

The 50 children train at Trench Tech Gym every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. The cost for the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Kids program is $40 a month and the Trench Tech Gym rents and sell Gis (kimonos) for them to wear for training.

“BJJ is a great way to help teach your child, discipline, self-esteem, respect, good health habits, and self-defense. Feel free to bring your child over for a free trial anytime,” said Alvarez.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a self-defense system, martial art, and combat sport system that focuses on grappling with particular emphasis on ground fighting.

It was developed from Kodokan judo ground fighting (newaza) fundamentals that were taught by a number of Japanese individuals including Takeo Yano, Mitsuyo Maeda, Soshihiro Satake, and Isao Okano. Brazilian jiu-jitsu eventually came to be its own defined combat sport through the innovations, practices, and adaptation of judo.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Kids teaches that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend himself against a bigger, stronger, heavier opponent by using leverage to take the fight to the ground, and then applying joint locks and chokeholds to defeat the opponent.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Kids training can be used for sport grappling tournaments and in self-defense situations. Sparring (commonly referred to as “rolling” within the BJJ community) and live drilling play a major role in training and the practitioner’s development. Brazilian jiu-jitsu is considered a martial art, a sport, a method for promoting physical fitness and building character, and a way of life

For more information on Trench Tech Gym’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Kids program, call Trench Tech at 670-783-4662 or visit their website at www.trenchtech.tv for more details.

[5

post-317051","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-sports
["GET
