{"id":317650,"date":"2020-02-18T06:05:31","date_gmt":"2020-02-17T20:05:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=317650"},"modified":"2020-02-18T06:05:31","modified_gmt":"2020-02-17T20:05:31","slug":"cpa-to-invest-53k-on-rota-concession","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/cpa-to-invest-53k-on-rota-concession\/","title":{"rendered":"CPA to invest $53K on Rota concession"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commonwealth Ports Authority is insisting on investing $53,000 from its own pockets on the Rota concession project. <\/p>\n<p>During a CPA Financial Affairs Committee meeting last week, board chair Kimberlyn King-Hinds said that CPA is looking at investing the remaining $53,000 needed for the expansion of the Rota International Airport and renovations to its terminal. <\/p>\n<p>The $53,000 would go to the services of Ricondo &amp; Associates to review the project to get the RFPs out in order to get the project started. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have engaged the services of Ricando &amp; Associates to review the concession plan for Rota and originally wasn&#8217;t included in their scope of work to review the Rota International Airport and the additional scope is $53,000,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>King-Hinds said that, although times are hard for the economy and they have to cut back on expenses, Rota needs an economic break and if $53,000 is all that stands between that, then it\u2019s a worthy investment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people of Rota have been desperately seeking for some type of economic break and if it takes making further cuts so that they can have the $53,000 to get the expertise that they need to be able to roll out this RFP so that the concessions can go out, then I think it&#8217;s worth the investment,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>King-Hinds explained that there is some interest on Rota right now to enter into a public private partnership to expand and renovate the airport.<\/p>\n<p>According to a previous article on the Saipan Tribune, Barrie C.
