{"id":319289,"date":"2020-03-17T06:05:11","date_gmt":"2020-03-16T20:05:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=319289"},"modified":"2020-03-17T06:05:11","modified_gmt":"2020-03-16T20:05:11","slug":"nelson-implores-speaker-to-call-emergency-session","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/nelson-implores-speaker-to-call-emergency-session\/","title":{"rendered":"Nelson implores speaker to call emergency session"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HAG\u00c5T\u00d1A, Guam\u2014Vice Speaker Telena Cruz Nelson is imploring the Speaker of the 35th Guam Legislature to move forward in calling an Emergency Session on Monday to discuss Bill No. 313-35, the \u201cUnemployment Benefits Act of 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThe people of Guam are not just those working in the government, but our brothers and sisters working in the private sector, in many of our island\u2019s businesses and tourism industry, as well,\u201d said Vice Speaker Telena Cruz Nelson. \u201cBy addressing this measure now, we can account for the livelihoods of all our island\u2019s people, all of whom pay government taxes to avail of the services we all need. If this measure is not promptly addressed with the level of concern it requires, it may delay any action we are currently able to take or make it more difficult to provide unemployment benefits for all of our island\u2019s people further down the line.
