The CNMI Supreme Court issued an order on April 6, 2020, mandating that all documents filed in criminal, civil, traffic and small claims cases be filed and served electronically. The Judiciary initially began accepting electronic filing in 2006 in limited civil actions.<\/p>\n
Attorneys and self-represented litigants can now file documents electronically using File & ServeXpress portal at https:\/\/www.fileandservexpress.com\/. According to File & ServeXpress website, electronic file users \u201cgain a global overview and fast access to all cases in one spot\u201d and are able to \u201crespond quickly and effortlessly to any changes pertinent to a case.\u201d<\/p>\n
The pressing situation surrounding COVID-19 prompted an increased need for activating electronic filing and service for all case types. File & ServeXpress responded quickly to the needs of the CNMI Judiciary. In collaboration with Clerk of the Superior Court Patrick V. Diaz, File & ServeXpress was able to initiate electronic filing and service for all case types in one week. <\/p>\n
