Since the CNMI is a popular scuba diving destination, the dive shop found a niche and made scuba diving a safer sport or hobby to get into.<\/p>\n<p>Since the quasi-lockdown of the islands, no tourists have been coming that brought the diving industry to a complete standstill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost operators on island only provide services to tourists. As there are no tourists, the opportunities for the dive shops have been cut practically to zero\u2026 we have always been a business focused on providing services to our local divers,\u201d said owner Rhea McDoulett.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been fortunate to serve also local divers as well as providing services to the diving shops needing to service equipment while there are no customers\u2026we have continued operations, except for a brief one-day pause when we understood there were no beaches open to the public,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Green-pix-2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Green Flash Dive specializes on hydrostatic testing to ensure strength and refill of scuba tanks. (Contributed Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Green Flash Dive currently offers airfills, equipment rental, equipment sales, servicing of equipment, hydrotesting, and inspection of cylinders.<\/p>\n<p>Even though Green Flash Dive has a limited client base at the moment, safety first will always be its mentality, according to owner Joey McDoulett.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe focus on providing additional disinfection procedures to eliminate any risk of cross-contamination in our equipment. We maintain appropriate distancing between ourselves and our customers as well as between customers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wipe all incoming and outgoing equipment with disinfectant wipes. We soak all used rental equipment in a chlorine bleach solution for 30 minutes, and wipe all exposed surfaces with disinfectant,\u201d he added<\/p>\n<p>Their immediate plans include reaching out to the community and create interest in local diving. \u201cWe have not been able to even during this pandemic\u2026we will begin an outreach program to generate a strong local diving group,\u201d said Rhea McDoulett.<\/p>\n<p>She continued that the deep disinfection of their rental equipment will continue. \u201cWe just hope social distancing isn\u2019t something that has to continue. A handshake is still important to us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Green Flash Dive is open Monday-Friday from 7am to 1pm.
