{"id":322027,"date":"2020-05-01T06:00:13","date_gmt":"2020-04-30T20:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=322027"},"modified":"2020-05-01T06:00:13","modified_gmt":"2020-04-30T20:00:13","slug":"nap-sees-increase-in-food-stamp-applicants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/nap-sees-increase-in-food-stamp-applicants\/","title":{"rendered":"NAP sees increase in food stamp applicants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nutrition Assistance Program has seen an increase in the number of people applying for food stamps. <\/p>\n<p>According to its latest numbers, NAP received 1,048 applications, which is in addition to the over 2,000 applications that have previously been issued. <\/p>\n<p>NAP previously announced the extension of certifications for households whose certification were to expire. The March deadline was extended to June, April to July, and May to August. <\/p>\n<p>Due to the extended protocols for social distancing from the Public Health Emergency declaration of Gov. Ralph DLG Torres, NAP will still be distributing benefits through drive-thru for the month of May. The drive-thru service will be from May 1 to 15 at the NAP office at As Lito, from 8am to 3pm. <\/p>\n<p>Households that will be receiving benefits will only be in their vehicles and no walk-ins will be allowed. Walk-in service for benefit pick up will only be done from May 18 to 29, 2020. <\/p>\n<p>Additionally, \u201conly those whose names appear on the valid NAP identification card may receive their household\u2019s benefits.
