Similar to previous relief drives, this one was for people who have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rotary Club president Maria Ayuyu said a total of 200 individuals each got a bag that contained rice, canned goods, toilet tissue, and ramen noodles.

Just last week, the Rotary Club also distributed relief goods to mostly foreign workers who’ve lost their jobs due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“This time, we are doing this for beneficiaries of Karidat Social Services,” said Ayuyu.

Lauri Ogumoro, executive director of Karidat Social Services, was also present during the distribution. According to Ogumoro, individuals who call their office to seek assistance usually receive vouchers from them, but the Rotary Club wanted something different.

“This week, instead of mailing out certificates, we are partnering with them and they are giving out the food,” she added.

“This is the partnership that we do. We want to help as much as we can. Rotary Club is for the community and we want to be there physically to help the community,” Ayuyu added.

She thanked Triple J for donating the bags for the relief goods.

Ogumoro also said she is very grateful for the partnership with the Rotarians. “We just have to all help each other to get through this crisis.”

The Rotary Club of Saipan and the Catholic charity group Karidat Social Services teamed up…

[4
261
post-322733","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local-news","tag-rotary-club
["GET
