{"id":323257,"date":"2020-05-20T06:02:22","date_gmt":"2020-05-19T20:02:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=323257"},"modified":"2020-05-20T06:02:22","modified_gmt":"2020-05-19T20:02:22","slug":"jeju-air-rescue-flight-next-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/jeju-air-rescue-flight-next-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Jeju Air rescue flight next week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jeju Air has heeded the call of Korean nationals in the CNMI who are appealing for help to fly to South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>Jeju Air will be flying out over a hundred Korean nationals on May 27, 2020, at 3:40pm, according to Chris Chang from the Korean Community of Saipan. \u201cPeople who have reserved seats are expected to come to the airport two hours prior to the scheduled flight.\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Chang also told Saipan Tribune that there is a high likelihood this will be Jeju Air\u2019s last flight to and from Saipan. \u201cAlthough the [CNMI] government is assuming direct flights from South Korea will resume no later than July, there is a huge possibility that flights from South Korea might not,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>According to Chang, this will be the second rescue flight for Korean residents on Saipan who need to travel to South Korea directly. \u201cThe first rescue flight we did was with Asiana Air. We wanted\u2026to give opportunities to other airlines as well, that is why Jeju Air is flying them out this time. \u2026The maximum capacity  is 150 seats and currently,  there are 30 vacant seats left,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He clarified that this rescue flight is not for free and people need to pay for their tickets. \u201cAnyone who is interested can come to the Korean Community of Saipan [on May 19 and 20] to reserve seats,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Chang said the Korean Community of Saipan has been working for some time now trying to figure out how to send their compatriots to Korea in the midst of the pandemic.
