{"id":323659,"date":"2020-05-27T06:00:27","date_gmt":"2020-05-26T20:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=323659"},"modified":"2020-05-27T06:00:27","modified_gmt":"2020-05-26T20:00:27","slug":"fda-approves-of-solgent-test-kits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/fda-approves-of-solgent-test-kits\/","title":{"rendered":"FDA approves of SolGent test kits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The SolGent test kits that the CNMI has been using to test for COVID-19 has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration under an Emergency Use Authorization.<\/p>\n<p>The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. received the first 20,000 test kits from SolGent in South Korea last April 16. SolGent\u2019s test kits are the DiaPlexQ (polymerase chain reaction), a fast and inexpensive technique that amplifies small segments of DNA, so they can be used to detect viruses such as COVID-19 in a shorter time.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Ralph DLG Torres broke the news about the FDA approval during the governor\u2019s media briefing yesterday. \u201cThat\u2019s something that\u2019s a great success for all of us, and if there\u2019s any doubt or question regarding the test kits that we got from South Korea, I think this is a good time to also acknowledge what we received yesterday,\u201d said Torres.<\/p>\n<p>Esther Mu\u00f1a, CHCC chief executive officer, chimed in to say that since there are a lot of test kits available, CHCC will be strategizing on how they will be using the test kits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the end of the day, there\u2019s no question now in terms of reimbursable expense.
