Trilogy: Telling Old Age Sonnet Tales"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>My Dreams Get Toasted<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My dreams have all been toasted<br \/>\na bevy of beauties all buttered up<br \/>\nbuddies have pranked and roasted<br \/>\nme for days, I feel like a lost pup<br \/>\nmy dogs are tired socks all stink<br \/>\nshoelaces broken sweat in my eyes<br \/>\npollen allergies make it hard to blink<br \/>\nmosquitoes draw blood on my thighs<br \/>\nhot humid bummer summer for sure<br \/>\nt shirt sticks to me I\u2019m sopping wet<br \/>\noh for some well water cold and pure<br \/>\nactually I\u2019ll take any drink I can get<br \/>\nsome of my toasted dreams are French<br \/>\nnow to get rid of that underarm stench.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>Cotton Candy at Cupid County Fair<\/strong><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nScent of fried chicken and waffles under my nose<br \/>\ncaf\u00e9 au lait and beignet, hot corndogs came next<br \/>\nour love was hornier and thornier than a wild rose<br \/>\nas it quickly soared and soured we tried our best<br \/>\nme a prince of fools you quite sober and straight<br \/>\na growing young chick still close to mother\u2019s nest<br \/>\nso we went arm and arm to the fair on our last date<br \/>\nwhen we came back I turned left you turned right\u00a0<br \/>\nno one could have ever predicted our future or fate<br \/>\nwe had no plans for heaven or hell for day or night<br \/>\nas we swam into ecstasy in that hot summers air<br \/>\nthe sexual peaks we reached gave us both a fright<br \/>\nCupid only knows what arrows he shot and where<br \/>\nwe ate pink cotton candy at the Cupid County fair.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n<strong>Not Donne Yet No Woman is a Peninsula\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nChicken coops aren\u2019t pig pens no woman is a peninsula<br \/>\nsailing around John Donne\u2019s \u2018No Man Is An Island\u2019<br \/>\nmade my older brother Peter smile and keep smiling<br \/>\nif you were very fat and floating around on sea water<br \/>\nmight you at least be considered a very small island<br \/>\nnot every dog has its day nor every cat live nine lives<br \/>\ntoo much smoke and mirrors bees can\u2019t find their hives<br \/>\nyou probably could roller skate in a buffalo herd<br \/>\nif you were an 18 wheeler or a big Kenworth diesel<br \/>\nbut could you ever paint like Vermeer or Paul Cezanne<br \/>\nwith all their colors on your pallet and a large size easel<br \/>\nturkeys will run through the straw and fields of corn<br \/>\nyou can\u2019t catch chicken pox from a skunk or weasel<br \/>\nbut you can eat canned peaches as sure as your born.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Joey &#8216;Pepe Batbon&#8217; Connolly (Special to the Saipan Tribune)<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Joey \u201cPepe Batbon\u201d Connolly is a retired teacher and has been named a poet laureate of Tinian.
