{"id":324967,"date":"2020-06-17T06:03:39","date_gmt":"2020-06-16T20:03:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=324967"},"modified":"2020-06-17T06:03:39","modified_gmt":"2020-06-16T20:03:39","slug":"chcc-removes-recoveries-from-dashboard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/chcc-removes-recoveries-from-dashboard\/","title":{"rendered":"CHCC removes \u2018recoveries\u2019 from dashboard"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Among the many concerns cited to explain why the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. has removed the number of recoveries in the CNMI on its website\u2019s tally, Esther Mu\u00f1a says that CHCC is not comfortable using the term \u201crecovery,\u201d which she said is misleading.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo say that someone has recovered from [COVID-19 infection], what does that mean?\u201d asked Mu\u00f1a, who is CHCC\u2019s chief executive officer. \u201c\u2026Saying an individual would never have the virus again or they don\u2019t completely have the virus [is] kind of misleading, so we [basically] removed that information,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Although, Guam records every time a patient has \u201crecovered,\u201d CHCC has opted to remove that information.<\/p>\n<p>Mu\u00f1a also says that it\u2019s to protect the identity of the person who is infected. \u201cWe don\u2019t release it\u2026especially since it identifies the demographics and the demographics can definitely link to someone, especially if you know that somebody had come off a flight,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, in releasing information on someone who has tested positive, CHCC prefers to get that information out as soon as possible, with the most accurate information. According to Muna, this makes it easier to control rumors.<\/p>\n<p>She declined to respond when asked if CHCC has retested \u201crecovered\u201d patients.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/xxx.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-324968\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/xxx-132x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"132\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>CHCC has also been mapping out which area of the CNMI, including Rota and Tinian, where people get tested the most and also what village needs to get tested more. Based on this, Mu\u00f1a said, the first few days of the community-based testing at the Francisco C. Ada\/Saipan International Airport testing site mostly covered people who live on the east side of Saipan.<\/p>\n<p>With COVID-19 being a rapidly evolving situation, Mu\u00f1a advises people who have tested negative to ensure that they still follow all guidelines and rules.
