{"id":3254,"date":"2012-02-16T05:15:30","date_gmt":"2012-02-16T05:15:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newspaper.ctsi-logistics.com\/?p=3254"},"modified":"2012-02-16T05:15:30","modified_gmt":"2012-02-16T05:15:30","slug":"family-relatives-now-worried","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/family-relatives-now-worried\/","title":{"rendered":"Family, relatives now worried"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>By Ferdie de la Torre<br \/>\nReporter<\/div>\n<p>As the investigation into the killing of bartender Emerita Relata Romero enters its second week, family members and relatives are now worried that the case may end up on the long list of unsolved homicides in the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n<p>A relative told Saipan Tribune yesterday that family members in the Philippines are now starting to wonder why there has been no arrest when the body had already been found.<\/p>\n<p>The relative, who asked not to be identified, said that Romero&#8217;s brother and sister, who both work on Saipan, are hoping the police will give them a little bit more information so they can explain the case&#8217;s developments with their relatives.<\/p>\n<p>The relative said that the family, however, remains optimistic as FBI agents have assured them that they will assist the Department of Public Safety arrest the killer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are even [praying] to Emie not to let the animal still out there celebrate,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The relative said another family&#8217;s concern is whether the killer is still on island or had already left.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s already nine days, we still can&#8217;t believe justice has not been obtained yet,\u201d he said. \u201cFor us, nine days are like one year already.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Romero&#8217;s sister, Estrellita \u201cLhet\u201d Relata, refused to comment yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The family has been planning to bring Romero&#8217;s remains to Bulacan, the Philippines, this weekend for burial. But DPS Commissioner Ramon Mafnas said the remains can only be flown to the Philippines once all forensic evaluations are performed. Until now, Mafnas has refused to release the autopsy results to the media.<\/p>\n<p>Romero was last seen boarding a green or blue tinted sedan around 3am on Feb. 5 in Garapan.
