(Contributed Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Paire\u2019 Corner, a new gourmet and deli place, formally opens on July 3 giving more life to the bustling business scene in San Jose Village, Tinian. Saipan\u2019s Next Top Chef 2013 winner Rhea Backe leads this business venture as operations manager and chef.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have always had a passion for cooking and in 2013, this passion made me win Saipan\u2019s Next Top Chef competition. I was both the first female participant and amateur to win.  This made me  believe and gain confidence that I am capable of cooking good food and share my home recipes and cooking style with the community,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo make the Tinian community know that we are here and ready to serve, we had a soft opening last June 10 and on July 3 will be our grand opening. This gourmet and deli shop is for everyone on Tinian and we can\u2019t wait to have customers from Saipan, Rota, Guam, and from just about anywhere,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Paire\u2019 Corner serves sub sandwiches like classic turkey sub, black forest ham sub, chieken teriyaki sub, Paire\u2019 signature pastrami sub, and Paire\u2019 pulled pork sandwich. Their delicious paninis include teriyaki-style chicken, black forest ham, and baled turkey paninis. All subs and sandwiches are reasonably priced and draught beer will soon be available which is a first on Tinian.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_325449\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-325449\" style=\"width: 290px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Paire-pix-2-290x300.jpg\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-325449\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">One of Paire\u2019 Corner\u2019s top favorites is their pulled pork sandwich. (Contributed Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Paire\u2019 Corner marketing director Lizabeth Hofschneider said that they wanted to offer something different on Tinian. Being a teacher at Tinian Jr. Sr High School, Hofschieder has a pretty good grip the beat of the community. \u201cWe want to offer something different to local residents, tourists, and visiting military servicemen and women\u2026 One thing I realized is that our local people love gourmet sandwiches as we have regulars who show up almost daily,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCustomer feedback is important for us to grow and serve our customers better. Some of the feedback that go so far are \u2018Thank you for bringing gourmet subs to our island,\u2019 \u2018I love the pulled pork sub,\u2019 \u2018baked turkey panini is the best\u2019\u2026My sincerest appreciation to the community of Tinian for the warm welcome of our sub\/deli restaurant,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Backe said that where Paire\u2019 Corner stands now used to be the Tinian Teen Center. \u201cAside from offering subs and paninis, we were also able to provide jobs. Two of my staff used to work at the Teen Center,  Edwin Manibusan and Charlene Danganan&#8230; All employees must undergo physical screening and attend a food-handling seminar.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_325450\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-325450\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Paire-pix-3-300x191.jpg\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-325450\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Customers have many subs and paninis to choose from like this black forest ham panini. With this COVID-19 pandemic, students transitioning to college are looking for a source of income to support their education. We are grateful to be the bridge to achieve their goal, whether for college or career. We also we continue to build partnerships with our local vendors.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Paire\u2019 Corner on Tinian is open from Monday to Saturday from 10am to 1pm for lunch and 5pm to 9pm for dinner. They give 10% discount to military veterans, soldiers, and locals.
