The Department of Finance is reminding everyone that the deadline for the filing of taxes in the CNMI is coming up next week, Wednesday, July 15, following a three-month extension to provide relieve due to the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n
Finance Secretary David Atalig said in an interview that the Division of Revenue & Taxation is currently working on all filings. \u201cThe tax filing deadline was moved from April 15th to July 15th. Division of Revenue & Taxation is processing all tax return filings and we hope to process the first batch of Child Tax Credit payments by Aug. 15th or earlier,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs for other tax refunds\/rebates, we hope to have this all processed and paid out by end of August or early September,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
In March, Gov. Ralph DLG Torres announced the special relief to individuals and businesses who are struggling with the economic downturn as a result of COVID-19.<\/p>\n
