{"id":326211,"date":"2020-07-10T06:00:18","date_gmt":"2020-07-09T20:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=326211"},"modified":"2020-07-10T06:00:18","modified_gmt":"2020-07-09T20:00:18","slug":"rotary-to-hand-out-relief-goods-on-tinian-tomorrow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/rotary-to-hand-out-relief-goods-on-tinian-tomorrow\/","title":{"rendered":"Rotary to hand out relief goods on Tinian tomorrow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0Rotary Club of Saipan\u00a0will be distributing Pandemic Relief Care Packages on Tinian tomorrow, July 11, 2020, at 9am, in collaboration with the Tinian International Women\u2019s Association.<\/p>\n<p>The club said in a statement yesterday that it is\u00a0spearheading this\u00a0food distribution\u00a0project to families\u00a0affected by the pandemic due to loss of employment.\u00a0 \u201cWe will be distributing relief goods to over 180\u00a0families\u00a0on Tinian,\u201d the statement adds.<\/p>\n<p>The Rotary Club said this is a continuation of the Rotary Club\u2019s relief goods distribution this past May to hundreds of similarly affected families on Saipan and Rota, both\u00a0in collaboration with the Karidat Social Services.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone in our community is affected by the pandemic and our club cares deeply about the welfare of those most vulnerable or are in need of a helping hand.\u00a0We know that every little bit will help our community and this is why we continue to do what we can,\u201d the club statement said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Tinian distribution will be carried out by\u00a015\u00a0Rotary\u00a0members\u00a0from Saipan, who mostly will be travelling on three boats captained by Rotary members.\u00a0 The bags of\u00a0care packages were transported\u00a0to Tinian by air on Thursday, compliments\u00a0of Micronesian Air Cargo Services. \u201cThis\u00a0endeavor also\u00a0could not have been possible without the support and contributions from our\u00a0valued\u00a0donors. \u2026We are all very excited and looking forward to this,\u201d the club said. Its many donors include Micronesian Air Cargo Services Saipan, Tandem Skydive Saipan, D&amp;Q Distributors, Saipan Micronesian Brokers Inc., Payless Super Fresh and Truckload Store, Karidat Social Services,  and Western Sales Trading Co., as well as several individual donors.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Rotary International Theme is \u201cRotary Opens Opportunities\u201d and it is through this endeavor \u201cthat we were able to work collaboratively with the Tinian International Women\u2019s Association.\u00a0 We started planning this project a couple weeks ago and\u00a0[club] president Sonya\u00a0[Dancoe] is\u00a0thrilled with all the coordination they have done on Tinian to ensure everything goes smoothly.
