{"id":327326,"date":"2020-07-30T06:00:35","date_gmt":"2020-07-29T20:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=327326"},"modified":"2020-07-30T06:00:35","modified_gmt":"2020-07-29T20:00:35","slug":"over-273m-grants-to-184-airports-in-41-states-6-territories","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/over-273m-grants-to-184-airports-in-41-states-6-territories\/","title":{"rendered":"Over $273M grants to 184 airports in 41 states, 6 territories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>WASHINGTON, D.C.<\/strong>\u2014The U.S. Secretary of Transportation will award more than $273\u00a0million in airport safety and infrastructure grants through the\u00a0Federal Aviation Administration\u00a0to 41 states\u00a0and the\u00a0District of Columbia, American Samoa, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, Palau, and Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis $273 million federal investment in our nation\u2019s airports will strengthen safety, improve travel, generate jobs, and benefit local communities,\u201d said Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao in announcing the release of the grants yesterday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0complete PDF listing of grants and\u00a0an\u00a0interactive map of the airports that will be receiving funding\u00a0is available on the FAA website.<\/p>\n<p>The total includes just over $242\u00a0million from the\u00a0Airport Improvement Program and $31\u00a0million in\u00a0Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act\u00a0grants to equal a 100% federal share.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe safety of our nation\u2019s airports is of paramount importance to the FAA,\u201d said FAA administrator Stephen M. Dickson. \u201cThese\u00a0grants will allow these necessary projects to continue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The grants will be used for a variety of critical infrastructure and safety projects.
