{"id":327472,"date":"2020-08-03T06:01:02","date_gmt":"2020-08-02T20:01:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=327472"},"modified":"2020-08-03T06:01:02","modified_gmt":"2020-08-02T20:01:02","slug":"application-open-for-cannabis-license","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/application-open-for-cannabis-license\/","title":{"rendered":"Application open for cannabis license"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The publication of the certification and adoption of proposed rules and regulations of the CNMI Cannabis Commission means that applications for commercial Cannabis Licenses and noncommercial Homegrown Marijuana Registry may now officially begin.<br \/>\nThe commission officially adopted the proposed cannabis rules and regulations during their meeting on June 23, 2020. The certification of the cannabis rules and regulations was published in the Commonwealth Register Volume 42, Number 7 on July 28, 2020. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The commission will begin accepting commercial and noncommercial applications tomorrow, Aug. 4, 2020, marking the official opening of the cannabis industry within the Commonwealth.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nSubmitting your application:<\/p>\n<p>Applicants applying on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota can submit their completed Cannabis License application package or Homegrown Marijuana Registry application with official payment certification and receipt of payment at the following locations from Tuesday through Thursday, 9am \u2013 4pm:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saipan applicants:\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nDivision of Permitting and Licensing<br \/>\nCommonwealth Casino Commission<br \/>\nUnit 13 and 14F Springs Plaza<br \/>\nGualo Rai, Saipan<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tinian applicants:<\/strong><br \/>\nCustomer Service Intake Window<br \/>\nDepartment of Commerce \u2013 Tinian<br \/>\nSan Jose Village, Tinian<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rota applicants:\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nAdministrative Office<br \/>\nDepartment of Land and Natural Resources \u2013 Rota<br \/>\nLiyo, Songsong Village, Rota<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cannabis license application<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Depending on the type of license issued by the commission, a licensed cannabis business will be authorized to commercially cultivate, manufacture, store, distribute, allowing for onsite consumption, or sell marijuana to a person 21 years of age or older within the Commonwealth.\u00a0<br \/>\nCurrently, interested applicants can apply for the following commercial cannabis licenses: Marijuana Producer License (Class 1, 2, or 3), Marijuana Micro Producer License, Marijuana Wholesale License, Marijuana Retailer License, and Marijuana Lounge License (Class 1 or 2).<br \/>\nApplicants are expected to complete the Cannabis License application, provide all the necessary information required in the associated License Type Appendix, and pay the nonrefundable application fee prior to submitting their application package.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Homegrown Marijuana Registry application:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With the official opening of the Homegrown Marijuana Registry, individuals who are 21 years of age or older are mandated by Commonwealth law to register for a Homegrown Marijuana Registry Card in order to produce, process, keep, or store homegrown marijuana at a household or cultivation site for noncommercial purposes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The application fee is $75 per person and applicants must pay the fee prior to submitting the application.
